Public institutions such as educational institutions, media agencies, and municipal services complement the mix of functions in the city center. Further south, Masnedø hosts port-related commercial activities through the Masnedø Bulk Terminal and companies associated with the Storstrøm Bridge project, giving Vordingborg a distinct logistical and industrial character within the region.

Usage and Tourism
The historic old town forms the heart of Vordingborg, with the ruins of the royal castle and the Goose Tower (Gåsetårnet) at its center. Here, cafés, restaurants, and local shops create a lively atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. The northern part of the city is home to public institutions, educational institutions, and sports facilities. The nearby train station connects the city to the rest of Zealand and Denmark. In the southern part of the city lies a public library that is very popular among residents. Vordingborg’s three harbors—Nordhavn, Sydhavn, and Masnedsund Harbor—are used for industry, fishing, and recreational purposes. The ongoing reconstruction of the Masnedsund Bridge strengthens Vordingborg’s role as a regional transportation hub, particularly in connection with the expansion of the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel. Vordingborg offers history, nature, and maritime life. The Storstrømmen beach promenade and the surrounding natural scenery make the city an attractive destination for tourists.
