Always Living
Koncept 6
Introduction
The region has many green and water areas that are still poorly connected and hardly developed for tourism. Roads and railway lines act as spatial breaks and caesuras, causing a lot of noise pollution. Between the regional green belts there are still large open spaces that can be developed within the settlement corridors. Lübeck, Bad Schwartau and Ratekau have various largely monofunctional industrial areas that could be further qualified to further diversify the regional economic structure, especially in rural areas.
Central idea
The Always Living concept aims to create a sustainable nature tourism region between Lübeck and Ratekau, which is particularly attractive to domestic and day tourists. The focus is on making water and nature accessible, inspired by existing active regions in Schleswig-Holstein. Synergy effects with Lübeck and the Lübeck Baltic Sea are to be promoted through improved tourism infrastructure and marketing. As the region should not be exclusively dependent on tourism, measures for spatial and economic development will be implemented to ensure economic stability independent of seasonal tourism. The concept is characterised by three fields of action: nature experience, mobility connection and spatial development.
Strategy
In the area of "Experiencing Nature", new footpaths, green cycle paths and riverside promenades will be created. In addition, measures are planned for the ecological upgrading of protected areas and local recreation areas, e.g. the renaturation of habitats and the installation of insect hotels. Water sports and bathing water quality will also be promoted. The "Mobility Connection" field of action focuses on the development of public transport, e-mobility and car-sharing. New railway stations and more frequent bus lines will improve mobility. The "spatial development" field of action focuses on sustainable industrial areas and renewable energies in order to make the region economically and ecologically sustainable.
In-depth study
The 'Always Living' concept for Ratekau includes four main measures: a nature trail around Lake Ruppersdorf, a new local transport station, the redevelopment of the Zeiss-Straße business park and the construction of an eco-settlement. The nature trail offers interactive environmental education with information boards, sound games and resting places. A new railway station will better connect Ratekau to the Hamburg-Lübeck-Fehmarn railway line, with a P+R car park, e-charging stations and bike sharing. The business park will be developed into a sustainable 4.0 business park with co-working spaces, green areas and e-charging stations. New strategic companies and future technologies will be established. These measures are aimed at the environmental, economic and sustainable development of the region.
